Job Description Job Description Alley Pond Golf Center | Douglaston, Queens, NY Full-Time | On-site | $52,000–$94,000 per year, based on experience Position Summary Alley Pond Golf Center is seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join our restaurant team. We are looking for a skilled, reliable, and hands-on culinary professional who can independently prepare and execute a varied menu of casual American dishes while maintaining consistent standards in food quality, taste, presentation, portion control, and kitchen efficiency. This position is ideal for a chef with strong cooking skills who can also contribute to menu development, kitchen organization, food cost control, and overall culinary operations. Key Responsibilities Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to restaurant recipes and quality standards. Maintain consistency in food quality, flavor, presentation, portion size, and preparation. Independently manage food preparation and service during assigned shifts. Contribute to menu development, recipe improvement, seasonal offerings, and new dish creation. Ensure proper food preparation, storage, labeling, rotation, and inventory practices. Monitor ingredient usage, minimize food waste, and support food cost control. Maintain high standards of food safety, sanitation, and kitchen cleanliness. Organize workstations and ensure the kitchen operates efficiently during service. Coordinate effectively with restaurant management, front-of-house staff, and other kitchen team members. Assist with receiving and checking food deliveries when needed. Qualifications Minimum 4 years of professional cooking experience, preferably in casual American or comparable cuisine. Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, ingredients, preparation methods, and presentation. Ability to independently prepare and execute a varied menu at volume. Previous experience in a professional restaurant, hotel, country club, catering operation, or commercial kitchen preferred. Strong understanding of food safety, sanitation, and proper food-handling procedures. Good organizational and time-management skills; steady in a fast-paced environment. Reliable, responsible, detail-oriented, and able to work effectively as part of a team. Experience with menu development and food cost control preferred. Culinary school training or relevant certification a plus. Language Requirements English proficiency required for effective workplace communication. Bilingual ability in English and Mandarin strongly preferred. Compensation $52,000–$94,000 per year, depending on experience, culinary skills, and qualifications.
