Director, Facilities and Lab Operations (Contract) About Xaira Therapeutics Xaira is an innovative biotech startup focused on leveraging AI to transform drug discovery and development. The company is leading the development of generative AI models to design protein and antibody therapeutics, enabling the creation of medicines against historically hard-to-drug molecular targets. About the Role We are looking for a hands‑on and strategic Director of Facilities and Lab Operations to lead our lab and office environments in San Francisco and Seattle, with light oversight of our London office. You’ll be responsible for maintaining safe, efficient, and well‑functioning spaces that support our growing team and scientific work. This role works closely with research, operations, and leadership to ensure our physical infrastructure evolves with the needs of the organization. Key Responsibilities Oversee day‑to‑day lab and office operations in San Francisco and Seattle, ensuring functionality, efficiency, and compliance. Coordinate with external construction, real estate brokers, and facilities partners to support ongoing space expansion projects. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure the space supports current and future scientific needs. Support the planning and execution of office and lab transitions with minimal disruption to operations Oversee vendor relationships, procurement systems, and inventory coordination. Manage budgets related to lab operations and facilities. Provide light oversight of our small London office, coordinating with local vendors as needed Qualifications BS or BA in a relevant field (e.g., life sciences, engineering, facilities management, or related discipline) 8–10+ years of experience in lab and facilities operations, ideally in biotech or life sciences Experience working with external project teams on space planning and lab/office expansions Strong knowledge of EH&S and laboratory safety programs as well as facilities systems Excellent communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills A resourceful, hands‑on approach with the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, growing environment Compensation Employment Type : Contract Duration : 4 months We offer a competitive compensation and benefits package, seeking to provide an open, flexible, and friendly work environment to empower employees and provide them with a platform to develop their long‑term careers. The base pay range for this position is expected to be $94-$118 hourly; however, the base pay offered may vary depending on the market, job‑related knowledge, skills and capabilities, and experience.
