Scientist II (Contract), Analytical Development

Vaxcyte seeks an analytical scientist to support vaccine development activities, including method development, optimization, validation readiness, and laboratory operations. The role involves experimental design, troubleshooting, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration in a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and support qualification and validation readiness of analytical methods
• Design experiments to evaluate method parameters and establish appropriate control strategies
• Troubleshoot assay and instrument performance issues and implement corrective actions
• Coordinate instrument maintenance, vendor interfaces, and laboratory operations
• Author analytical methods, SOPs, protocols, and technical reports with clear documentation

Requirements

• Experience with analytical method development, optimization, and validation in pharmaceutical or biotech settings
• Proficiency in assay troubleshooting and structured problem-solving approaches
• Ability to design and execute experiments with attention to critical parameters and controls
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and stakeholder engagement
• Laboratory management experience including inventory tracking and instrument maintenance coordination
• Experience with method transfer activities and protocol development
