Sheriff's Cook*

Responsibilities Responsible for the preparation of food and for the security and supervision of inmates in the kitchen area of the institutional facilities of the Sheriff's Department. This position will work directly with inmates to supervise and train them in safety, preparation, and serving of meals, including proper sanitation and ware washing. The Cook is responsible for ensuring constant care and control of all kitchen tools, equipment, and utensils. Qualifications Prior experience as an institutional or correctional cook highly desirable. Must obtain a San Bernardino County Food Handlers Certificate within two weeks of appointment. Background: fingerprinted, polygraph, and no felony conviction. Shift: weekends, holidays, rotating shifts, and overtime as needed. Physical: lift up to 50 lbs., standing, squatting, and reaching. Must have one of the following options: Option 1: Considerable experience cooking food for a large number of persons or any equivalent combination of education or experience. Option 2: Community college Certificate in Culinary Arts. Attach a copy of the certificate to your application.
