Intellectual Property Paralegal (United States)

Leading tech company is seeking and IP Paralegal to support the Trademark, Marketing, and Copyright team. The role is remote within the United States.

Scope of Work

Title: Legal Ops/IP Paralegal (contract)

Hours: 20 - 40 Hours / Week

Pay Rate: $60 - $70 / hour

The Contract Paralegal will cover Senior Paralegal duties during a leave period and provide support for Trademark Legal where capacity allows. The role involves working closely with the Senior Counsel and other legal team members to ensure smooth operations within the Business & Legal Affairs and Marketing Legal departments.

Core Coverage (Primary):

• Manage Business & Legal Affairs Slack intake and production clearance, including reviewing intake submissions, screening for AI, talent, and music constraints, and updating dashboard status.
• Handle music licensing and other third-party supplier/licensing agreements by reviewing and approving licenses, managing Performing Rights Organization obligations, and maintaining the Music License Tracker.
• Field questions regarding personal and company asset releases and manage offline redlines on third-party paper.
• Oversee AI governance and compliance, including managing the AI Content Project Log and applying EU AI Act thresholds.

As-Needed Work:

• Conduct content substantiation first-pass for Marketing Legal, pre-screening scripts and videos, and flagging exceptions.
• Manage trademark takedowns and online infringement triage by issuing standard takedowns and escalating complex matters.

Marketing Legal Project Support:

• Draft and organize work such as Marketing M&A Integration FAQs and create repositories for claims and disclosures.
• Participate in workflow testing and administration, including agreements workflow and content review upgrades.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a paralegal, ideally within copyright, trademark, or marketing legal environments.
• Strong understanding of music licensing, AI governance, and compliance issues.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
