Travel RN - Operating Room

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Operating Room RN with robotics, orthopedic, and multi-specialty surgical experience for a rotating call-based assignment.

Job Details

• Operating Room unit within a hospital setting,
• Day shift, 5x8 hours, 0700-1530,
• Call required 2-3 days per week and every 4th-5th weekend, with rotating call teams (2 weekday teams, 1 weekend team covering 24 hours),
• Call coverage required even if RTO falls on a scheduled call day,
• Heavy focus on robotics, orthopedics, and sports medicine cases,
• Additional experience needed in urology, gynecology, plastics, ENT, ophthalmology, podiatry, spine, and neurosurgery procedures,
• Utilizes Epic charting system,
• Uses equipment such as cell saver, electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources/cords, and Hana Table,
• Da Vinci Xi Surgical System used for robotic procedures across multiple specialties,

Job Requirements

• Active WI or Compact RN license required (pending license accepted at submission, must be obtained during compliance),
• BLS certification required and must be active and in hand at submission,
• ACLS certification required and must be active and in hand at submission,
• NIHSS certification may be pending at submission but must be completed during compliance,
• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room RN experience required,
• Epic charting experience preferred,
• Experience with a wide range of surgical specialties including gynecology, plastics, neurology/spine, trauma, podiatry, orthopedics, general surgery, vascular, urology, ENT, and bariatrics,
• Robotic surgery experience preferred across colorectal, gastrointestinal, gynecologic, neurological, orthopedic, and urologic procedures,
• Knowledge of emergency management protocols including code response, fire safety, latex allergy, and malignant hyperthermia,
• Proficiency in laser safety, radiation safety, specimen handling/labeling, universal protocol (time out) procedures, and urinary bladder catheterization,
• Previous charge experience preferred,
• SSN, DOB, and RTO required at time of consideration,

Additional Information

• Provide perioperative nursing care across a broad range of surgical specialties in a trauma-capable OR setting,
• Two supervisor references required after offer acceptance, with one reference from most recent assignment or permanent position required for certain unit backgrounds,
• Passport-style badge photo required within 24 hours of offer acceptance,
• Orientation includes facility modules averaging 3-4 hours in length,
• Facility cannot accommodate travelers with latex allergies,
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply,
• Local candidates accepted at a reduced rate within 50 miles of the facility,
• Travelers may return to the facility only after a minimum 1-year separation,
• Travel pairs accepted
