Position Title Sous Chef - Discovery Village Alliance Assisted Living and Memory Care Your Role As Sous Chef , you will oversee and assist all food production, food presentation, and back‑of‑the‑house activity. You are expected to meet or exceed community food service standards at all times, adhere to budgetary requirements, and help manage kitchen operations in a cost‑effective manner. Position Highlights Status: [FULL TIME / PART TIME / PRN / ETC.] Schedule: [ENTER SCHEDULE, INCLUDING WEEKENDS IF APPLICABLE] Location: [COMMUNITY ADDRESS] Rate of Pay: [HOURLY OR SALARY RATE OF PAY] What You’ll Do Assist the chef with planning, staffing, organizing, and coordinating the preparation of all meals across all levels of care. Help plan menus and menu cycles according to cultural and regional food preferences and resident dietary guidelines; adjust recipes to appropriate yield. Apply assisted living food requirements as it pertains to state standards. Monitor the quality and consistency of the food to include temperatures, portion control, palatability and attractiveness; implement changes to ensure quality according to established standards. Assist the chef with time‑clock management as it relates to labor actuals, completed weekly to ensure compliance with budget. Ensure compliance with resident dietary restrictions as it pertains to the community. Observe and work side by side with workers preparing, portioning, and garnishing foods to ensure cooking methods and portion sizes are as prescribed. Give instructions to cooking staff in fine points of cooking. Assist the chef with inventorying food items monthly in the community. Create custom holiday menus. Conduct regular quality‑assurance audits. Practice all safety and loss‑prevention procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Associate’s degree in culinary arts program preferred. Minimum of three years experience as a Chef or Kitchen Manager in a food service environment. Successful completion of a recognized food safety course. Benefits Competitive wages.
