Job Title: Technical Writer

This Technical Writer role supports design verification, packaging validation, and product testing activities for medical device development programs. You will create, revise, and maintain technical documentation that underpins product development and verification efforts, ensuring all materials are accurate, compliant, traceable, and audit-ready. The position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with experience developing technical documentation in a regulated environment, particularly within medical device product development, design verification, validation, packaging, and testing.

Responsibilities

• Develop, edit, format, and maintain technical documents that support design verification and product testing activities.

• Collaborate closely with engineering, quality, regulatory, packaging, and test teams to gather technical information and accurately document results.

• Create and update protocols, reports, test methods, work instructions, procedures, technical summaries, and other supporting documentation.

• Review engineering and testing data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency within packaging validation and verification documentation.

• Ensure all documentation complies with applicable quality system requirements and established document control processes.

• Maintain document traceability and revision history in accordance with internal procedures and standards.

• Participate in document reviews and incorporate feedback from stakeholders to improve clarity and compliance.

• Support audit and regulatory readiness by ensuring documentation sets are complete, organized, and compliant.

• Assist with continuous improvement initiatives focused on enhancing technical documentation processes and standards.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 2 years of professional technical writing experience.

• Experience creating technical documentation in an engineering, manufacturing, life sciences, healthcare, or other regulated environment.

• Strong technical writing, editing, proofreading, and document formatting skills.

• Ability to interpret engineering, testing, and technical information and translate it into clear, concise documentation.

• Experience working cross-functionally with engineers and technical subject matter experts.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively in a remote work environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience within the medical device industry is strongly preferred.

• Knowledge of design control, design verification, validation, and product development documentation.

• Experience supporting packaging validation and testing activities.

• Familiarity with FDA, ISO, GMP, or other regulated quality systems and standards.

• Experience working with document management systems and controlled documentation processes.

• Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, Engineering, Life Sciences, English, or a related field.

• Motivation to support critical product development and verification activities within a highly regulated environment.

Work Environment

This role operates within standard business hours of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST and is structured for a remote work environment, requiring effective self-management and virtual collaboration. No travel is expected. You will work in a professional setting focused on highly regulated product development, leveraging common office technologies such as Microsoft Office and document management systems to create and maintain controlled documentation.

This is a Contract position based out of Minneapolis, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $48.00 - $48.00/hr.
