General Ledger Accountant

General Ledger Accountant (Startup Environment - Heavy Equipment Industry) We are a growing heavy equipment company seeking a highly adaptable and detail-oriented General Ledger Accountant. This role offers hands‑on exposure to multiple aspects of corporate accounting, including financial reporting, tax support, operational accounting, AR/AP knowledge, and cash flow analysis. In a startup environment, the position requires someone who can move quickly, take ownership of assignments, and step outside traditional role boundaries to help build and support core business operations. Key Responsibilities Perform general ledger account reconciliations on a recurring basis Complete monthly bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies Conduct account analysis and support accurate, timely financial reporting Assist with month‑end and year‑end close processes Operational & Systems Support Troubleshoot and resolve transactional errors between operating and financial systems on a daily basis Maintain alignment between inventory systems and financial records, including monthly inventory balancing Support implementation and improvement of accounting processes and internal controls Participate in ERP system implementation, upgrades, or enhancements, including testing, data validation, and process documentation Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure accurate data flow between operational and financial systems during and after ERP deployment Assist in developing and refining system‑driven workflows to improve efficiency and scalability Compliance & Administrative Assist with tax‑related support and documentation as needed Manage annual dealer license renewals and related filings Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements Ad Hoc & Startup Support Take on special projects and cross‑functional tasks as needed Support operational initiatives that may fall outside traditional accounting responsibilities Contribute to building scalable processes and infrastructure in a startup setting What You’ll Need Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and 5‑7 years of relevant accounting experience (or equivalent combination) Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and reconciliations Ability to work in a fast‑paced, evolving startup environment with shifting priorities Proven ability to turn around assignments quickly without sacrificing accuracy Willingness to take initiative and assume responsibilities beyond core job scope when needed Provide occasional support for Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions, including invoice processing, cash applications, and vendor/customer issue resolution Step in to assist with transactional accounting activities during peak periods or when necessary Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail Communication & Work Style Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in a professional environment Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in small teams Capable of presenting information clearly to internal stakeholders Work Environment & Expectations Open to in‑office or hybrid (office/work‑from‑home) work arrangements Startup culture: requires flexibility, accountability, and a hands‑on approach Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing business needs Occasional travel (up to 10%) Why Join Us?
