About the Role: The HR Compliance Specialist supports the integrity, consistency, and effectiveness of DPHS’ human resources operations by ensuring that HR processes, records, and practices are accurate, compliant, and thoughtfully executed. This role serves as a key resource for HR compliance, data integrity, compensation administration, credentialing, performance management, and the ongoing improvement of HR workflows and systems. The HR Compliance Specialist will identify opportunities to strengthen processes, automate routine work, improve documentation and reporting, and ensure that HR practices align with organizational policies and applicable regulatory requirements. This position is well suited for a detail-oriented, analytical HR professional who enjoys bringing structure to complex processes, solving problems, and building systems that make it easier for both employees and leaders to navigate the employee experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in HR compliance or a related HR function.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations including PWFA, FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EEO, and OSHA.
• Proven ability to interpret and apply complex regulatory requirements within an organizational context.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams.
• Familiarity with HRIS systems and compliance management software.
• Demonstrated knowledge of data management.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Professional certification such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR.
• Experience working in a medical or multi-specialty practice with diverse regulatory environments.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor and interpret changes in employment laws and regulations to ensure organizational compliance.
• Develop, update, and enforce HR policies and procedures in alignment with legal requirements and best practices.
• Conduct regular compliance audits and risk assessments across HR functions including payroll, hiring, onboarding, benefits administration, and employee relations.
• Provide training and guidance to HR staff and management on compliance-related topics and regulatory updates.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to investigate and resolve compliance issues or employee complaints.
• Prepare and maintain documentation and reports related to compliance activities for internal review and external audits.
• Support the development and implementation of corrective action plans when compliance gaps are identified.

Strong communication skills enable the specialist to effectively train HR personnel and management, ensuring consistent understanding and application of policy and procedure. Collaboration skills are critical when working with cross-functional teams to resolve compliance issues and implement corrective actions. Additionally, proficiency with HR information systems and compliance tools supports efficient documentation, reporting, and monitoring of compliance activities.
