Plant Accountant - Edison, NJ

Overview Silgan Containers is seeking a Plant Accountant to provide plant-level manufacturing accounting and finance expertise at our Edison, NJ, manufacturing facility. This role focuses on cost accounting, inventory control, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and SOX internal controls within a structured manufacturing environment. The Plant Accountant reports to the Plant Manager and partners closely with plant operations and corporate finance to ensure accurate reporting, strong internal controls, and effective financials for manufacturing operations. Compensation for this NJ-based position ranges from $85,000 to $110,000 per year and is based on experience, education, and skills. Why Join Silgan Medical, dental, and vision insurance Virtual healthcare through telemedicine Optional wellness programs, including pet insurance 401K with a 6 percent employer match 15 paid vacation days and 10 paid holidays annually Tuition assistance and professional development programs Full-time, on-site role located in Edison, NJ Plant Culture and Work Environment Structured manufacturing operation with a predictable daily and monthly rhythm Collaborative, close-knit workforce with strong engagement across departments Regular interaction with plant management and corporate finance partners Emphasis on teamwork, accountability, and clear communication Active participation in production meetings and routine plant walkthroughs Environment that values accuracy, organization, and follow-through What You’ll Do as a Plant Accountant Assist with inventory accuracy, including quarterly physical inventories, audit cadence, and variance resolution Manage monthly closing, plant financial statements, and standardized financial reporting in accordance with corporate timelines Prepare budgeting, forecasting, and annual operating plan submissions Maintain standard costs, cost accounting processes, and bills of materials Manage compliance with SOX internal controls and maintain audit readiness Participate in production meetings and conduct regular plant walkthroughs Partner with plant management on manufacturing finance and cost management Provide day-to-day oversight of the plant accounting clerk and plant planner Collaborate with corporate finance on reporting accuracy and control compliance Support HR functions as needed Additional Qualifications / Responsibilities Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance A minimum of 3 years of manufacturing accounting or manufacturing finance experience Strong knowledge of cost accounting, inventory controls, and month-end close Working knowledge of GAAP principles Experience with SOX-aligned or internal control environments Detail-oriented, organized, and process-focused work style Comfortable managing plant accounting duties with minimal supervision Strong ability to meet deadlines while working collaboratively Work Schedule and Expectations Standard plant schedule: 9:00 am - 5:30 pm Flexibility required during the month-end closing Minimal travel up to 10% annually for accounting or leadership meetings Regular on-site interaction with plant operations and corporate partners #J-18808-Ljbffr VetJobs and Military Spouse Jobs
