Overview: Join a dedicated healthcare team supporting both administrative and clinical needs of physicians and licensed medical staff in a busy outpatient podiatry and foot & ankle specialty clinic. This full-time day position offers a rewarding opportunity to provide compassionate patient care and assist in various clinical procedures under professional supervision. Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain patient confidentiality, dignity, and well-being at all times.
- Accurately document patient care and interactions during visits and telephone communications.
- Collect and process point-of-care, laboratory, and pathology samples following established policies.
- Perform quality and safety checks on waived testing equipment and supplies.
- Provide patient education as directed by healthcare providers.
- Administer treatments, dressing changes, medications, and therapies under licensed provider orders.
- Assist providers during procedures and examinations, including chaperoning and setup.
- Prepare reusable instruments for sterilization and manage biohazard and pharmaceutical waste per OSHA guidelines.
- Maintain a clean and safe patient care environment by adhering to infection prevention standards.
- Manage supply inventory and ensure availability of necessary instruments and materials.
- Support front desk operations including greeting patients, scheduling appointments, and assisting with coding and billing processes.
- Coordinate with external healthcare partners to facilitate patient care plans.
- Monitor electronic health record communications and respond promptly.
- Perform components of well visits and scheduled nursing visits as directed.
- Complete all required documentation prior to provider visits.
- Conduct high-level disinfection procedures as per policy.
- Flexibility to float to other clinics as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program with successful certification from a nationally recognized organization such as CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Preferred: Minimum of 1 year clinical experience in an outpatient setting.
- Ability to recognize and respond to life-threatening situations and activate emergency services.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with patients, staff, and providers both in person and via phone.
- Physical capability to perform clinical tasks including standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
- Comfort with potential exposure to blood or other infectious materials.
