Position Summary

The Back of House Team Member at PIXA Sociale is responsible for preparing and executing food consistently, efficiently, and according to PIXA Sociale recipes, presentation standards, sanitation requirements, and One of a Kind Hospitality expectations.

PIXA Sociale is built around a polished neighborhood-tavern experience with a menu designed for sharing. Our kitchen team must be able to work with urgency while maintaining quality, cleanliness, organization, portion control, and consistency.

This position works closely with the Chef/Kitchen Manager and the entire BOH team to ensure every dish leaving the kitchen meets our standards.

• Prepare menu items according to approved PIXA Sociale recipes, portions, procedures, and presentation standards.
• Execute appetizers, salads, pizzas, pasta, entrées, and other assigned menu items accurately and consistently.
• Understand PIXA's tavern-style thin and crispy pizza preparation and presentation standards.
• Prepare ingredients and complete assigned prep before service.
• Maintain proper mise en place throughout the shift.
• Work assigned kitchen stations and assist other stations during high-volume periods.
• Follow ticket timing and communicate with the kitchen team to ensure dishes for shared tables are coordinated properly.
• Maintain consistent portion sizes and minimize unnecessary food waste.
• Check product quality, freshness, temperature, and appearance before serving.
• Immediately communicate unavailable items, quality concerns, mistakes, or equipment problems to the Chef or manager.
• Follow allergy and dietary-restriction procedures carefully; never guess about ingredients or preparation methods.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation throughout the entire shift.
• Follow proper food handling, refrigeration, labeling, dating, rotation, storage, and sanitation procedures.
• Complete opening, running, and closing side work.
• Restock your station before leaving.
• Properly clean equipment, surfaces, floors, refrigeration areas, and assigned kitchen areas.
• Support dish, prep, pizza, pantry, sauté, fry, and other BOH positions when operationally necessary.
• Receive coaching professionally and follow Chef/management direction.
• Maintain urgency during busy periods without sacrificing food quality or safety.

Every BOH employee should continuously ask:

Is the food correct?
Is the presentation correct?
Is my station ready?
What does my team need next?
What can I do right now to improve the kitchen?

Every dish must be prepared according to the approved recipe. BOH employees are expected to:

• Use correct recipes and portions.
• Follow established cooking temperatures and procedures.
• Maintain consistent plating and presentation.
• Taste and inspect products as directed by kitchen leadership.
• Never substitute ingredients without authorization.
• Never send food that does not meet PIXA standards.
• Remake incorrect food immediately when directed.
• Protect food cost through proper portioning, preparation, storage, and waste control.

The BOH team must communicate constantly during service.

Employees are expected to call out delays, low product, allergy tickets, equipment problems, incorrect orders, and anything that could affect food quality or ticket times.

Professional communication is required at all times. Shouting at coworkers, disrespectful behavior, blaming others, or creating unnecessary conflict does not meet One of a Kind Hospitality standards.

Previous restaurant kitchen experience is preferred, particularly experience with pizza, Italian-American/tavern-style food, pasta, fryer, sauté, pantry, or high-volume cooking.

Candidates should be able to work quickly while remaining organized, follow recipes and instructions accurately, work as part of a team, maintain dependable attendance, and demonstrate a positive and professional attitude.

A valid Food Handler Certificate must be obtained as required.

This position requires prolonged standing, bending, reaching, lifting, working around hot equipment, refrigeration, sharp utensils, fryers, ovens, and other commercial kitchen equipment.

Team members must be available for scheduled shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.

We are not simply preparing food. We are creating the PIXA Sociale experience.
