Remote Assistant Controller for E‑Commerce Growth & Equity

Job Overview Assistant Controller – fully remote, high‑visibility role at a fast‑growing consumer wellness brand. Compensation includes a base salary of $140,000–$160,000 per year, a performance bonus, and equity participation. What You’ll Do Lead core accounting operations and support month‑end and year‑end close processes. Manage and mentor a small accounting team (2–3 members). Oversee reconciliation of high‑volume Shopify and e‑commerce transactions. Ensure accurate revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606. Support retail accounting processes with national partners such as Target and Kroger. Manage sales tax and other indirect tax compliance processes. Improve and build scalable accounting policies, controls, and operational procedures. Partner cross‑functionally with FP&A, operations, and leadership teams. Assist with audits, financial statement preparation, and technical accounting matters. Evaluate systems and automation opportunities to improve efficiency and reporting accuracy. Help build the accounting infrastructure needed for the company’s next phase of growth. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA strongly preferred. 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within consumer products, e‑commerce, or high‑growth environments. Strong understanding of ASC 606 revenue recognition. Experience reconciling Shopify, e‑commerce, or other high‑volume transactional data. Familiarity with inventory and retail accounting environments. Experience managing or mentoring accounting staff. Ability to operate both strategically and hands‑on in a fast‑paced environment. Strong systems aptitude and process‑improvement mindset. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
