Pediatrics - Oncology (Assistant Professor)
The Texas Children's Cancer and Hematology Center, a joint effort of Texas Children's Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, is seeking full-time research faculty at all academic levels to join our Leukemia Translational Research Program. This program is designed to encompass comprehensive basic and translational research activities to investigate the mechanisms of leukemia biology and to successfully translate these findings into clinical interventions to prevent or successfully treat leukemias affecting children, adolescents, and young adults. Individuals in the program will have the opportunity to collaborate with diverse collaborators at Texas Children's (the largest children's cancer center in the United States) and Baylor College of Medicine and across the Texas Medical Center. It is housed in state-of-the art research facilities on the Texas Medical Center campus. The candidate will run their laboratory for the leukemia program with support that includes technicians, bioinformaticians and trainees (post-doctoral students, graduate students, hematology/oncology fellows, etc.). Candidates with research programs and experience using single-cell genomics, bulk genomic technologies, clinical samples and pre-clinical models to identify genomic and epigenomic vulnerabilities in leukemia and develop novel methods of clinical risk stratification are encouraged to apply. Experience with development of new bioinformatics tools and innovative mouse models of leukemia is required. Previous research experience including a relevant publication record and history of successful peer-reviewed grant funding is important. The candidate will be expected to bring in peer reviewed funding. The State of Texas Cancer Prevention and Research Institute (CPRIT, $3B over 10 years) grant funds are available to foster cancer research and prevention in Texas by providing financial support for a wide variety of projects relevant to cancer research and prevention. Baylor College of Medicine is ranked among the top 20 medical schools and is internationally known for its excellence in education, research and patient care. Faculty in the Texas Children's Cancer Center receive over $45M in federal grants annually. Salary and start-up package will be commensurate with qualifications and prior experience.
