Clinical Nurse Coordinator STICU

St. David's Medical Center, a full-service hospital in central Austin and part of St. David's HealthCare, is seeking a Clinical Nurse Coordinator for our Surgical Trauma Intensive Care Unit (STICU) within the Healthcare & Medical Services department. Our hospital specializes in neurology, cardiac services, and robotic surgery, and is recognized for its commitment to advanced, patient-centered care. In this leadership-focused nursing role, you will coordinate and deliver high-acuity bedside care for critically ill surgical and trauma patients, while serving as a clinical resource and mentor for STICU nursing staff.

As the Clinical Nurse Coordinator STICU, you will oversee the daily clinical operations of assigned shifts, including patient assignments, admissions, discharges, and transfers, to ensure safe staffing and optimal patient flow. You will provide direct, evidence-based nursing care, perform complex assessments, interpret hemodynamic data, manage ventilators and invasive lines, and collaborate closely with intensivists, surgeons, neurologists, and the broader multidisciplinary team. You will help lead performance improvement initiatives, support adherence to hospital policies and regulatory standards, and promote best practices in neuro and trauma critical care.

This role is ideal for an experienced RN with strong critical care and neurological/trauma experience who is passionate about both bedside excellence and team leadership. You will coach and precept newer nurses, support competency development, and foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and compassionate, patient-centered practice. In collaboration with nurse managers and physicians, you will participate in care planning, family education, and complex clinical decision-making to achieve the best possible outcomes for our STICU patients.
