Project Engineer - Water/Wastewater

We are seeking a Project Engineer to support the delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects from design through to completion. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineering professional to contribute to technically challenging schemes that improve essential public services and support resilient, sustainable communities.


The role will involve developing and reviewing technical designs, specifications, drawings and calculations for water and wastewater assets, including treatment facilities, pumping stations, pipelines and associated civil, mechanical or electrical infrastructure. You will work closely with project managers, clients, consultants, contractors and suppliers to ensure that projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time and within budget. Key responsibilities will include coordinating design activities, preparing technical reports and project documentation, supporting the procurement process, reviewing contractor submissions, monitoring progress and assisting with commissioning and handover. You will also identify technical risks, resolve engineering issues and ensure that work complies with relevant legislation, industry standards, specifications and health and safety requirements.


Applicants should have a degree or equivalent qualification in civil, mechanical, electrical or environmental engineering, together with relevant experience in the water or wastewater sector. A sound understanding of project delivery, construction methods, contract management and quality assurance is desirable. Experience with industry-standard design and project management tools would be advantageous, as would professional membership or progress towards chartership. You will need strong analytical, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and build effective relationships at all levels. A proactive approach, attention to detail and a commitment to delivering practical, sustainable engineering solutions are essential. A full driving licence may be required, depending on project location.
