Lead Business Analyst

JOB SUMMARY

This role is responsible for analyzing business needs, defining project/product requirements, and facilitating stakeholder collaboration to ensure solutions meet business objectives. The individual will manage requirements throughout the lifecycle, develop effective change control processes, and communicate complex information clearly to project teams and stakeholders. This position also involves mentoring junior Business Analysts and participating in new business identification and solution recommendations. Key Responsibilities Work with stakeholders to understand and define their needs and objectives, ensuring they are actionable. Plan and execute business analysis approaches for complex situations. Design, define, and test project/product requirements. Perform multiple roles within prescribed methodologies. Establish regular meeting cadences to assess progress. Engage stakeholders to gain consensus on results. Create software requirements artifacts and deliverables. Communicate complex information in an easy-to-understand manner. Develop and implement effective change control processes for requirements and designs. Determine appropriate levels of abstraction for business analysis information in complex environments. Align complex requirements with design, with support from a Lead BA if available. Leverage BA knowledge areas to solve business problems. Analyze business needs and solutions, and facilitate stakeholder collaboration. Validate and verify information to identify suitable solution options. Identify and utilize appropriate business analysis tools. Establish and implement effective requirement creation and management practices. Define software quality attributes, external interfaces, constraints, and other non-functional requirements. Perform complex impact assessments of changes to requirements and designs. Ensure project teams understand project requirements and testing results align with business expectations. Actively identify business problems, constraints, and dependencies to guide solution selection. Lead written and verbal communication with clients and internal stakeholders. Negotiate options versus value delivered with stakeholders. Use appropriate tools, templates, and processes for aligning requirements and design. Evaluate and recommend appropriate solution options. Drive and ensure adherence to established processes. Maintain documentation of processes and project artifacts. Manage and communicate project artifacts to stakeholder groups. Drive adoption of tools, templates, and processes to improve decision-making and approval processes. Mentor Junior BAs as needed. Assist in identifying new business opportunities and recommending solutions when requested. Develop process flow diagrams, use cases, current/future state diagrams, and functional/technical requirements in user stories. Apply an understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and methodologies. Develop innovative approaches for using new tools, templates, and processes. Develop a network of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) within the organization. Practice innovative ways of performing BA tasks. Required Qualifications Experience in using analytical thinking and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated experience with analytical thinking, creative thinking, decision making, learning, problem-solving, systems thinking, conceptual thinking, and visual thinking. Proficiency in business knowledge within the relevant business, industry, and organization. Ability to recognize potential limitations and opportunities. Understanding of risks and ability to make suitable decisions to manage them. Good understanding of current trends, market forces, market drivers, key processes, services, products, customer segments, suppliers, practices, and regulations. Adaptation of communication styles and techniques to match the knowledge level and communication styles of recipients. Proficiency in verbal, non-verbal, physical, and written communication methods, with exceptional listening skills. Ability to relate, cooperate, and communicate with diverse individuals including executives, sponsors, colleagues, team members, developers, vendors, end users, customers, and SMEs. Facilitation of stakeholder communication, leadership, comprehension of solution value, and promotion of stakeholder support for proposed changes. Exceptional negotiation and conflict resolution skills. Good working knowledge of software applications and tools for communication and collaboration. Ability to create and maintain requirements artifacts, model concepts, and track issues. Excellent knowledge of prototyping and simulation tools, and specialized tools for modeling and diagramming. Familiarity with requirements management technologies to support workflow, approval, baselining, traceability, change control, and management. Proficiency in presentation software for communication and collaboration. Good knowledge of various BA techniques and the expertise to select and use the right technique for tasks. Expert level knowledge in various BA knowledge areas recommended by IIBA or other professional organizations. Experience in developing process flow diagrams, use cases, current/future state diagrams, functional and technical requirements in the form of user stories.
