Job Description

This position is responsible for managing and growing an assigned customer base, creating and implementing sales strategy using strategic tools, and achieving growth projections.

I. Principal Responsibilities

· The sales engineer is expected to develop new customer accounts

· Service existing customer accounts and develops new customer accounts.

· Manage and grow an assigned territory which could include multiple regions.

· Work closely with senior management to create strategic and tactical plans to take advantage of all potential sales opportunities in the assigned territory within the region.

· Develop and enhance business and technical relations with engineering, procurement, quality, and warranty/service personnel at all levels within the customer organizations.

· Support Customer Service team with any outstanding issues regarding order processing, delivery, or billing.

· Coordinate new and existing customer projects working closely with customers and Howland engineering and customer service.

· Investigate field failures associated with new product introductions and existing product failures. Achieve customer satisfaction through resolution.

· Document and distribute customer visits reports

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

Knowledge

· Application of motor controllers, power conversion devices, instrumentation, input devices and switching devices for both vehicular and stationary systems

· Technical Selling Techniques

· Microsoft Office Products

Education

̈ BSEE, BSME, or BS Electrical Technology

Experience

̈ No experience, but right background - Willing to train the right candidate - Ideal has 3+ years of technical sales experience in a power electronics or in motive power environment

Skills

· Excellent technical skills

· Strong business savvy to turn opportunities to profitable business activities

· Be self-directed and able to work with minimum of supervision

· Strong ability to bring closure to activities

· Excellent presentation skills

· Excellent persuasive verbal and written communication skills.

· Excellent follow-up skills

· Excellent relationship building abilities to bring trusting relationships at all levels within the customer organization

· Excellent and efficient problem solving abilities

· Ability to interface with all levels of an organization from the technician on the manufacturing floor to senior management.

Other Requirements

· Up to 50% domestic travel may be required. Must be able to travel on short notice
