Sentara is hiring a full-time inpatient pharmacy technician at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA. $5,000 sign-on bonus for qualified candidates!

Location: Norfolk, VA- Sentara Norfolk General Hospital

Status: Full Time (40 hrs/wk)

Shift: Rotating (8 hour shift)

Hours: 6am-11pm* (occasional overnight coverage)

Weekends: Every Other Weekend

Holiday Rotation

*Hours may vary to meet pharmacy staffing needs.

Pharmacy technicians perform care delivery and dispensing under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner.

Responsibilities:

• Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner
• Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care
• Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed
• Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information
• Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements
• Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately
• In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
• A pharmacy technician license is required in the state of practice

Education:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent

Certification/Licensure:

• Virginia Pharmacy Tech License (Required)
• CPhT License (Received through the NHA or PTCB) (Preferred)

Experience:

• Previous pharmacy experience (preferred)
