Job Description
The Quality Engineer ensures that products and processes meet established quality standards and regulatory requirements within a highly technical manufacturing environment. This role focuses on developing and maintaining robust quality systems, analyzing and resolving quality issues, collaborating with suppliers, and leading continuous improvement initiatives that directly impact product performance and end-user safety.

The environment emphasizes safety, precision, and high-quality standards, with ongoing investments in new equipment and increased automation. Team members work closely with engineering, operations, and quality functions to support the development and manufacture of innovative products. The work involves regular interaction with production lines, inspection and testing areas, and quality labs, using standard quality tools, measurement equipment, and statistical software to support data-driven decision-making.

The pay range for this position is $41.00 - $45.00/hr.

Job Description
The Quality Engineer ensures that products and processes meet established quality standards and regulatory requirements within a highly technical manufacturing environment. This role focuses on developing and maintaining robust quality systems, analyzing and resolving quality issues, collaborating with suppliers, and leading continuous improvement initiatives that directly impact product performance and end-user safety.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality control systems, procedures, and standards to ensure consistent product quality.
- Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, regulations, and internal company policies across all quality-related activities.
- Plan, conduct, and document internal quality audits and support external audits by customers or regulatory bodies.
- Oversee and perform inspections of incoming materials, in-process components, and finished products to verify conformance to specifications.
- Develop, implement, and refine inspection and testing protocols, including sampling plans, acceptance criteria, and test methods.
- Use root cause analysis tools (such as 8D, Fishbone, and 5-Why) to investigate product and process non-conformances.
- Define, implement, and track corrective and preventive actions to address quality issues and prevent recurrence.
- Monitor and report on non-conformance trends, driving continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defects and variability.
- Collaborate with suppliers to ensure that materials and components meet quality and performance requirements.
- Conduct supplier quality audits and support supplier development activities to improve incoming quality.
- Lead and participate in quality improvement projects using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies to optimize processes and enhance efficiency.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization, automation, and waste reduction within manufacturing and quality operations.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of quality control activities, including inspections, audits, and test results.
- At least 2 years of experience working as a Quality Engineer or in a closely related quality engineering role.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a closely related technical discipline.
- Hands-on experience with quality engineering principles and practices in a manufacturing setting.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 or similar quality management system standards.
- Proficiency in conducting Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA).
- Experience applying statistical process control (SPC) and performing trend analysis on process and quality data.
- Practical experience with root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies, including 8D, Fishbone, and 5-Why.
- Ability to develop and implement quality control procedures, inspection plans, and testing protocols.
- Experience using statistical software such as SQC Pack or Minitab for data analysis and reporting.
- Exposure to Lean Manufacturing concepts and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Familiarity with New Product Introduction (NPI) processes from a quality perspective.
- Experience working in regulated manufacturing environments such as general manufacturing, automotive, or medical device.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to drive issues to closure and implement sustainable solutions.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports and presenting findings to stakeholders.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, and suppliers.
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification or equivalent experience in advanced quality engineering.
- Proficiency in measurement, inspection, and testing methods, including familiarity with calibration processes.
- Experience with supplier quality management, including supplier audits and development activities.
- Familiarity with regulatory and quality standards such as FDA regulations, AS9100, and IATF 16949 or similar frameworks.
- Experience working with or around government contracts, including Department of Defense (DoD) requirements, is beneficial.
- Demonstrated ability to lead or significantly contribute to continuous improvement and process optimization projects.
- Comfort working in a setting where new materials, formulations, and product designs are regularly introduced.
