Punch Press Setup/Operator

Job Summary Set up and operate progressive tooling and punch presses for metal stamping parts. Duties and Responsibilities Assembles, installs and aligns dies in the press according to specification. Adjusts ram to specified length. Feeds steel to the die through the straightener and feeder making the necessary adjustments. Monitor process during run. Submits first off sample to QA for approval. Adjusts press, if necessary, to make part to blueprint specification. Perform basic measurements and monitoring with caliper, micrometer, scale & gauges. Follows all safe work procedures and general plant rules while performing the job. This job has no supervisory responsibilities. The minimum requirements, knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for this job are as follows: Education and Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred; or, one to three months of related experience and/or training; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience. Comprehension/Communication skills: Reads and interprets documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedural manuals; fills out production reports. Mathematical Skills : Adds, subtracts, multiplies and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; understands and reads blueprints. Ability to use measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, and height gauge. Reasoning ability: Understands written, oral or diagrammed instructions. Job Specific: Ability to use measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, and height gauge. Basic understanding of SPC. Experience with set up and/or operation of PLC units preferred. Forklift experience and certification a plus. Physical Requirements (if any): Occasionally, walks, stoops, kneels, crouches or crawls; regularly, moves up to 50 pounds, stands, uses hands and fingers to handle, or feel; may occasionally move up to 100 pounds with the use of a dolly, cart or other mechanical equipment.
