Schedule / Job Type

Contract | 13 Weeks | Night Shift (7pm–7am, 4x12-hour shifts) | Expected 36 or 48 hours/week | Every other weekend, every other holiday

Key Responsibilities

• Provide acute and intermediate care nursing for a thoracic, cardiac, and vascular (TCV) surgical patient population, including post-operative CABG, cardiac valve repair/replacement, AAA repair, lung resection, esophagectomy, heart and lung transplant, limb amputations, femoral popliteal bypass, and carotid endarterectomy patients
• Deliver care within a 28-bed unit comprising 22 acute-care beds and a 6-bed intermediate care unit (TIMU), maintaining nurse-to-patient ratios of 4–5:1 in acute care and 3:1 in the TIMU
• Monitor and manage TIMU patients including fresh lobectomies, patients receiving thrombolytic TPA, and transplant patients requiring advanced monitoring beyond standard acute care
• Manage patients on select cardiac drips and arterial lines within the intermediate care setting
• Adhere to the facility's float policy, floating within scope of practice as needed
• Document and manage patient care using Epic EMR

Required Qualifications

• Active Virginia RN license (pending license accepted; must be in hand by the Wednesday before start date)
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience
• Epic EMR experience required
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• ACLS certification preferred
• BSN preferred
• Experience in IMC, PCU, stepdown, or cardiovascular/thoracic surgical nursing
• Familiarity with care of post-operative transplant and vascular surgery patients
