Rhino Medical is leading the charge seeking experienced Hospitalist Physicians trained in Internal Medicine OR Family Medicine for an unusually flexible, long-term locum tenens opportunity in Fresno, California .

Family Medicine-trained physicians with relevant adult inpatient Hospital Medicine experience are now encouraged to apply.
Most locums assignments have an expiration date.

This one has a runway.

The current Hospital Medicine coverage need is expected to continue for at least two years , giving qualified physicians the opportunity to credential into a regional program and establish an ongoing source of locum shifts in one California market.

Large Community Hospital Medicine

• Approximately 285 average daily census
• Complex adult inpatient population
• Closed ICU model
• Established Hospital Medicine infrastructure
• Strong multidisciplinary collaboration

Specialized Surgical Hospital Medicine

• 48-bed surgical hospital environment
• 9 ICU beds
• Approximately 28 average census
• Open ICU model
• No Emergency Department
• Medical management and consultation for surgical inpatients
• Collaborative surgeon/Hospitalist model
• No routine procedural requirements

Clinical Scope
Depending on facility and scheduled coverage, responsibilities may include:

• Hospital Medicine admissions
• Adult inpatient rounding and management
• Cross-cover
• Rapid Response participation
• Code leadership where assigned
• APP collaboration and supervision
• Management of complex adult medical patients
• Surgical patient medical co-management
• Multidisciplinary care coordination
• Epic documentation and order management

Hospital Medicine Without a Routine Procedural Burden

The clinical focus is admissions, inpatient management, cross-cover, response, coordination and patient progression rather than routinely functioning as a procedural intensivist.

Appropriate specialty and Critical Care resources support the individual hospital environments.

APP-Supported Practice
Physicians work alongside Acute Care NPs and PAs supporting workflows that may include:

• Observation management
• Long length-of-stay patients
• Throughput
• Goals-of-care management
• Overnight cross-cover
• Rapid Response support

Candidate Requirements

• MD or DO
• Internal Medicine OR Family Medicine training
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
• Relevant recent adult inpatient Hospital Medicine experience
• Active California medical license preferred
• Current ACLS
• Comfortable independently managing adult Hospital Medicine admissions and inpatient care
• Comfortable participating in Rapid Responses
• Comfortable collaborating with and supervising APPs

Family Medicine Physicians

FM-trained physicians are specifically encouraged to apply when their recent clinical experience demonstrates substantive adult inpatient Hospital Medicine practice.

The training pathway does not need to be Internal Medicine—the relevant Hospital Medicine experience does need to be there.
