Archaeological Field Technician Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Archaeological Field Technician to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Current valid driver’s license and the ability to safely operate a 4wd vehicle on rugged, backcountry roads required;
- Comfortable driving large, diesel, pickup-trucks is ideal;
- Previous archaeological survey experience in Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio, Virginia, and/or West Virginia is a plus;
- An accredited Field School Certification is required;
- Knowledge of professional-grade GPS and tablet-based data applications is a plus;
- Knowledge of TerraSync is a plus;
- An accredited Field School Certification is preferred;
- Current valid driver’s license and the ability to safely operate a 4wd vehicle on rugged, backcountry roads preferred;
- Archaeology field school or comparable experience highly preferred;
- Experience with a wide range of field methodologies, including archaeological survey, testing, excavation, methodology and monitoring preferred;
- Knowledge of ArcPad and/or Tablet functions is a plus.
Requirements:
- Complete field forms efficiently and correctly;
- Complete sketch maps of archaeological sites / historic resources;
- Photograph cultural resources;
- Use sub-meter GPS devices and tablets;
- Conduct archaeological field work including monitoring, survey, testing, and data recovery;
- Identify historic and prehistoric artifacts accurately.
