Electrical Hardware Engineer Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Electrical Hardware Engineer to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Run tests for hardware development and qualification;
- Assist in the management of hardware certifications and certification-reviews;
- Design electronics enclosures, mounting brackets and associated components;
- Support the existing product suite;
- Responsible for the contribution and maintenance of the departmental WIKI;
- Develop hardware specifications, bring up prototypes;
- Help with managing outside contract manufacturers locally;
- Consistently demonstrate Geotab’s Core Values in all daily work and interactions;
- Assist with selection, testing, certification of hardware for wireless communication devices;
- Motivate the acquisition of any hardware, software or test equipment that is required in order to perform any of the above;
- Keep documentation up to date;
- Ability to work in small teams;
- Assist in the design of PCB assemblies and their interface to enclosures;
- Analyze existing systems to identify flaws or inefficiencies and use problem-solving skills.
Requirements:
- General understanding of circuits and embedded systems (C, microcontrollers, serial-communications)(SPI, UART, I2C);
- Ability to solder;
- Embedded hardware design experience with micro-controllers AND/OR processors, ARM and/or PIC is valued;
- Experience with wireless hardware highly valued;
- Experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers or temperature chambers highly valued;
- SolidWorks or similar CAD design software, ability to design and build test-fixtures;
- Experience with peripherals, such as CAN, UART, SPI, I2C, SDIO, USB;
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering with a foundation in electronics development.
