GIS Analyst I utilizes Geographic Information System techniques to provide a better understanding of certain variables in a given geographic location. Extracts data from GIS software and uses varying analysis methods to arrive at results. Being a GIS Analyst I recommends appropriate reactionary strategies in response to GIS analysis. Provides maps and data sets to clients to supplement analysis. Additionally, GIS Analyst I knowledgeable of GIS software and technology. Works in conjunction with CADD drafters and technicians. Requires a bachelor’s degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. To be a GIS Analyst I typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Work is closely managed.

Our company is looking for a GIS Analyst to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Functionally understands and works to have expert knowledge of applications of which the role is responsible;
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities and prioritize tasks appropriately;
  • Manage field data collection using applications such as Survey123 and Collector;
  • Supporting retail business and geospatial analytics;
  • Performing scheduled map updates;
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously, with a commitment to keeping projects on time and within budget;
  • Develop modules to analyze data and automate repetitive work;
  • Preparing demographic and data summary reports;
  • Completing ad hoc mapping requests;
  • Create and maintain Microsoft Access database tables, queries, forms, reports, and macros;
  • Additional duties as assigned;
  • Perform GIS analyses using ESRI products and remote sensing tools;
  • Develop/use automated GIS processes for cartography and analysis using a variety of software environments;
  • Interface with clients, project teams, and project managers;
  • Assisting the Market Planning team with various location strategy and market intelligence initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Ability to obtain high-level clearance and DHS suitability clearance;
  • Bachelor’s degree;
  • Knowledge and experience in CBRN material as well as an understanding of the hazards associated with their manufacture, transport and use;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to interact effectively across all organizational levels;
  • No Relocation Assistance, must be local;
  • Masters degree or PhD in a quantitative field;
  • Progressive thinker and problem solver, with a strong ability to manage ambiguity/complexity;
  • Experience with SQL queries of large databases such as Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, Teradata, and Hadoop;
  • 4+ years of relevant geospatial experience, with 2 years of experience leading at least one other geospatial technician;
  • Utilize with Python, AML, VBA, or other scripting/GIS application development tools;
  • Work effectively in teams as well as independently across multiple tasks while meeting aggressive timelines;
  • BS degree in GIS, Geography, Environmental Science, Computer Science, or equivalent;
  • Must possess good organizational, and oral and written communication skills;
  • 7+ years of experience performing planning analysis;
  • Demonstrates proficiency in GIS analysis and data modeling.
