Our company is looking for a Project Geotechnical Engineer to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Planning and oversight of geotechnical investigations;
  • Occasionally perform field work such as logging test borings, construction observation and on-site client consultation;
  • Develop geotechnical engineering scope of services and fee estimates;
  • Manage geotechnical and construction phase observation and testing field work performed by others;
  • Manage and mentor junior engineers, commensurate with experience level;
  • Assign, review and interpret geotechnical laboratory tests;
  • Perform geotechnical engineering analysis and calculations;
  • Create basic plans and figures using AutoCAD, MicroStation and GIS;
  • Manage client relationships and business development opportunities;
  • Develop geotechnical engineering recommendations and write geotechnical engineering reports;
  • Responsible for preparing project proposals, managing projects, and interfacing directly with clients;
  • Conduct geotechnical field investigations, analyses and report preparation.

Requirements:

  • Managerial/mentoring experience;
  • AutoCAD, MicroStation and GIS skills suitable for developing geotechnical deliverables;
  • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident status (no visa sponsorship provided);
  • Experience with Microsoft Teams and SharePoint software;
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment;
  • Professional Engineering license, or ability to obtain within 6 months;
  • Willing to travel periodically with in the United States or abroad;
  • Demonstrated experience with geotechnical engineering for transportation projects, including design-build;
  • Ability to perform field work and travel as needed;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Availability and willingness to travel, mostly in the North Carolina area;
  • M.S. Degree in geotechnical engineering with additional coursework in structural engineering or rock mechanics;
  • PE registration required or in the process of examination for current students;
  • Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to modify personal schedule as required to meet project deadlines and/or client needs;
  • Computer skills including CADD, word processing, and spreadsheets.
