Lead Data Engineer Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Lead Data Engineer to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Be part of Data Engineering team translating business and technology requirements into our ETL/ELT architecture;
- Provide system support as part of a support rotation with other team members;
- Provide subject matter expertise in the analysis, preparation of specifications and plans for the development of data processes;
- Ensure proper data governance policies are followed by implementing or validating Data Lineage, Quality checks, classification, etc;
- Ability to quickly identify an opportunity and recommend possible technical solutions;
- Collaborate with cross functional teams such as AWS cloud & platform engineering, DBAs and business teams;
- Develop Custom Data pipeline (Cloud and locally hosted);
- Develop data driven solutions utilizing current and next generation technologies to meet evolving business needs.
Requirements:
- 4+ years of experience with data engineering with emphasis on data analytics and reporting;
- Experience working with source-code management tools such as GitHub and Jenkins;
- Experience developing with Python;
- Good understanding of file formats including JSON, Parquet, Avro, and othersPUBLISHED DESCRIPTION;
- Top Secret Clearance;
- BA or BS degree in CS, IT, or Information Security;
- 8 years of experience in working with a complex database or data lake environment with multi-tiered security architecture;
- Experience with DoD security classification guidance;
- 4 years of experience with a modern programming language, including Python, Java, or Scala;
- Ability to quickly learn technical concepts and communicate with multiple functional groups;
- Experience with leading a technical team;
- Experience with Data Modeling Concepts;
