Personnel Security Specialist Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Personnel Security Specialist to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Manages receipt of security documents submitted from contractor applicants;
- Initiates contact with personal references, employers of applicants, and appointees for use in pre-employment suitability inquiries;
- Provides research and technical support to projects;
- Coordinate with Bureau POC when pre-screen results require suitability decisions;
- Receive and scan hardcopy submitted background investigation documentation into appropriate systems for record maintenance and review;
- Initiates background investigations and runs necessary pre-employment queries to include law enforcement and credit checks;
- Review credit reports;
- Review files for derogatory information;
- Applies incident management, problem solving, and task performance;
- Position hours are from 6:00 am to 11:30 pm. Shift hours are non-negotiable;
- Enter I-9 information into E-Verify and check results;
- Conduct subject interviews;
- Take timely and appropriate action on reporting adjudicative determinations to OPM;
- Make recommendations for suitability determinations;
- Ensure e-QIP documents are completed properly with no gaps in employment, etc prior to submission to OPM.
Requirements:
- Highly organized with excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Experience in NACI Reviews including reviews of SF85, OF 306 and FBI and state law enforcement vouchers and reports;
- Experience in reviewing applicant correspondence including court documents, references, and fingerprints and rap sheets;
- High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office products;
- Familiarity with e-QIP, CVS, PIPS/JPAS and other security products;
- Three years’ experience in background investigations or suitability determinations or related activities;
- Good writing and communication skills required;
- Experience using Microsoft Office Programs and desktop publishing application software and hardware;
- All applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance;
- Must be highly organized and have excellent oral and written communication skills.
