Platform Systems Engineer Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Platform Systems Engineer to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure the integrity of high availability network and infrastructure to provide maximum performance for end users;
- Act as tier 3 and tier 4 escalation support for information systems and agile teams providing root cause analysis (RCA) when requested;
- Develop baseline testing, stress test and security hardening procedures;
- Develop deployment plan/strategy, management of, and transition to operations and maintenance;
- Develop budgetary estimates and timelines for delivery;
- Develop requirements documents to ensure all technical requirements will be met for the Government;
- Work with other agency contract resources or external contract vendors;
- Build and maintain the fabric on which all other IT systems and services are built;
- Provide full stack engineering and delivery via Systems Engineering Life Cycle (SELC) process and Agile/DevOps methods;
- Participate in Integrated Planning Teams (IPTs) and/or Scrum Sprints/Increments;
- Engage in continuous improvement, to include automation of tasks and reduction and minimization of technical debt;
- Architect and engineer solutions to meet customer requirements and agency initiatives;
- Develop scripts, configuration settings and templates;
- Plan, implement and utilize orchestration and automation to increase output and reduce demand on resources.
Requirements:
- Deep understanding of Active Directory and Group Policy;
- Familiarity with WAN/LAN technology;
- Ability and readiness to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing, collaborative environment;
- MCSE certification required;
- Proven expeirence with managing and using DevOps concepts;
- Must have a strong critical thinking, complex problem solving, appropriate judgement, and decision-making skills;
- Posses superior technical aptitude and effective writen and verbal communicaions skills;
- Experience with major cloud providers, preferred;
- Experience working in public and private clouds;
- Virtualization platforms – VMWare, Microsoft Hyper-V;
- Familiarity with automation tools and methods;
- Familiarity with database design, administration, and best practices;
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills required;
- Storage area networks – NetApp, EMC, HCI;
- Strong Powershell scripting experience.
