General Foreman Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a General Foreman to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Exhibit strong interpersonal and communication skills;
- Supervise core construction team to comply with Site Superintendent and Construction Manager directives;
- Oversee execution of work, including quality and production;
- Understand and enforce run rates as established by site management team;
- Manage and guide proper use of tools and equipment;
- Ensure completion of equipment daily maintenance, cleaning and safety checks of equipment;
- Supervises duties of Foremen and Crew members;
- Provides project progress and communications to Division Manager and/or Senior Managers, as well as customer representatives;
- Prepares crew performance appraisals;
- Tracks materials and inventory and identifying needs;
- Install, troubleshoot, splice, and mid-sheath and repair Fiber Optic Cable;
- Maintains tracking detail for maintenance for equipment, generators, vehicles, and trailers;
- Communicates status updates to leadership and, when required, customers in a clear, concise, and timely manner;
- Organizes and plans resources and schedules accordingly to ensure proper distribution of the workload;
- Responsible for final Quality Assurance / Quality Control of the work performed by crews.
Requirements:
- Ability to travel and report for 24 hour standby when responding to storm relief throughout the United States;
- Prior experience as a Foreman, General Foreman or Superintendent highly preferred;
- Champion and own safety by modeling behaviors, maintaining a drug free work environment and performing corrective action when appropriate;
- Conduct job hazard analysis and present daily/weekly tool box talks;
- Any combination of training, education, and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or GED;
- Trained and certified to perform all aspects of high-voltage line grounding including equi-potential grounding;
- Certified in CPR, First Aid, OSHA 10 & 20 Hour course;
- Must presently be qualified as a Journeyman Lineman;
- Experience in all parts of OSHA 20 CFR transmission and distribution compliance;
- Experience managing field crews;
- Pre-survey job location and ensure locates have been performed;
- Ability to travel and additional duties as assigned;
- Valid driver’s license;
- Excellent Computer Skills;
- Completion of a Journeyman Lineman program or equivalent.
