Painter Job Description

Painter I applies paint, varnishes, stains and other coatings to interior and/or exterior surfaces with brush, roller or other tools. Prepares surfaces for painting by removing old paint using paint removers, scrapers, wire brushes, or blowtorches. Being a Painter I fills nail holes, cracks, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other fillers using a caulking gun or a putty knife. Prepares paint and primers and matches colors. Additionally, Painter I may prepare estimates of work time and cost. May have to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor/manager. The Painter I possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. May require 0-1 year of general work experience.

Our company is looking for a Painter to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Painting surfaces using brushes, spray gun, or paint rollers;
  • Handling planning and prep work in an efficient manner;
  • Employee must be able to complete and submit all necessary correspondence for work that is completed;
  • Preparing painting surfaces by washing walls, repairing holes, or removing old paint;
  • In shop & fieldwork;
  • Remove fixtures such as pictures, door knobs, lamps, or electric switch covers prior to painting;
  • Priming;
  • Install and repair covered wall and ceiling surfaces including, but not limited to, hanging vinyl paper, fabric and foil wall coverings;
  • Properly track time with time keeping system;
  • Maintain and repair caulked, grouted, wood and masonry surfaces requiring staining, varnishing and lacquering;
  • Clean out all trash from apartments before, during and after make-ready activity;
  • Basic sheet rock repairs;
  • Honest and able to work in a self-directed, fast-paced environment with minimal oversight;
  • Perform other tasks as directed;
  • Perform any necessary “make ready” tasks to prepare vacant apartments for move-in, including repairs, cleaning and any other necessary tasks.

Requirements:

  • Commercial painting experience ( Journeyman skill level );
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and carry up/down 30 stairs;
  • OSHA a plus or will be provided;
  • Effective verbal and listening communication skills;
  • Must meet all health requirements;
  • Must have compassion for and desire to work with the elderly;
  • Conscientious with great attention to detail;
  • Maneuver bodies with assistance of rolling racks;
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as Painter;
  • Must have good work ethic and reliable transportation;
  • Cleans spray guns, paint booth;
  • All applicants must be at least 18 years old to apply;
  • High school graduate or graduate of a technical school;
  • Proven experience as a painter (5 years minimum);
  • Must posses an active TS/SCI with polygraph.
