Medication Technician Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Medication Technician to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Pour and assist residents with medications according to Physician orders, medication training, and Company policies and procedures;
- Re-order medications following the Company policies and procedures;
- Keep medication room and cart clean and orderly at all times;
- Ensure residents do not run out of medications at any time;
- Understand and follow all emergency protocols and respond to emergencies as directed and per Community training;
- File appropriate paperwork in residents charts;
- Keep medication room, cart, cupboards, and records locked when not in use;
- Treat residents with dignity and respect. Provide privacy during personal care;
- Make a significant contribution to the quality of life of the people who live in the community by initiating meaningful connections and interactions;
- Transfer orders to the MAR as directed by Licensed Nurse;
- Order medical supplies as directed by Licensed Nurse;
- Assist Care Associates as needed;
- Contribute information vital to the development and implementation of customized service plans;
- Review MARS after each cycle change;
- Assist with cost control by utilizing resources efficiently and in a waste free manner.
Requirements:
- Communication SkillsAbility to communicate clearly and effectively;
- Interact well with our Carlton Family – residents, family members, all staff members, futureresidents;
- Medication Administration training/certification per state requirements;
- High School Diploma/GED or 1-2 years of relevant experience;
- Must meet all health requirements;
- Work with integrity in all interactions;
- Exemplify and be an influential team player;
- Work harmoniously with other employees and develop/maintain good employee relations and employee morale;
- Must have compassion for and desire to work with the elderly. Must respect that the work environment is the Resident’s home;
- Ability to read, write and speak English;
- Experienced Caregiver or Certified Nursing Assistant Certification (CNA) per state requirements;
- Strive for excellence in all aspects of the job;
- Exceptional organizational skills;
- Experience as a Medication Technician (Med Tech)/Certified Medication Aide (CMA) in senior living;
- Must be honest, fair, ethical, dependable, respect confidentiality and the rights and privacy of others and local, state and federal laws.
