Our company is looking for a Lab Assistant to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Understands correct method for outreach patient registration;
  • Assist with Performance Improvement activities in the department and serves on teams if needed;
  • Must follow and enforce accepted safety practices for patients and hospital;
  • Must report safety hazards and initiate appropriate action;
  • Demonstrates skill and accuracy in obtaining specimens for all age groups served;
  • Demonstrates professional and independent judgment at all times;
  • Must participate in safety instructional programs;
  • Shows competency in LIS computer system;
  • Take photos of test samples and import / edit photos utilizing Excel;
  • Cleaning/disinfection of dishware;
  • Make sure to keep thorough documentation;
  • Stock inventory and supplies;
  • Maintain equipment; keeping accurate records and notes; ordering lab supplies;
  • Cell Culture work: media preparation, quality control testing, and daily maintenance of human airway muscle cell lines & human fibroblast cell lines;
  • Prepare cleaning solutions.

Requirements:

  • Requires telephone skills;
  • Requires HS grad or GED Equivalent;
  • Requires ability to perform repetitive tasks for prolonged periods of time;
  • May require a valid Indiana Operator?s license and a good driving history for the last three years;
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience preferred; Cerner strongly preferred;
  • High school graduate or GED;
  • National phlebotomy certification;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing providing excellent customer service;
  • Education: High school degree;
  • Ability to follow protocols precisely and to produce media according to laboratory guidelines;
  • Must have prior experience in a biological research laboratory;
  • Basic math, ability to follow technical procedures;
  • Experience in gene expression, protein determination;
  • Thrive in a team environment;
  • Experience with documentation and attention to details.
