Research Technician Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Research Technician to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in grant application process and manuscript preparation as required;
- Maintains detailed notebook of all work-related activities;
- Summarize results/data reports;
- Uses computers, computer-interfaced equipment, robotics or high-technology applications to perform work duties;
- Ordering lab supplies;
- Preparation of laboratory reagents;
- Data analysis and recording of results electronically and in a lab notebook;
- Protein chemical assays including immunoblotting;
- Maintain existing collection of instruments and inventories;
- Responsible for maintaining detailed notebook of all work-related activities;
- work with laboratory mice;
- Will be expected to participate in formal and information presentations of results to staff;
- Conduct standardized biological or biochemical assays and laboratory analyses, eg. TR-FRET, FP, western blot, cell-based assays;
- Clean, maintain work areas and may be responsible for ordering of supplies;
- Prepares and maintains laboratory reagents and stocks.
Requirements:
- Must possess a high level of initiative and the ability to work independently;
- BA/BS in Biological or Natural Sciences, with 1 year of job-related experience;
- Experience working with cell cultures, transduction of cells in vitro, PCR, and receptor-based assays;
- Strong MS Office skills including Excel;
- Familiarity with the command line, linux and R desirable;
- Bachelor degree in Biology, Computational Biology or related field required. 0-2 yrs of experience working in a scientific research setting a plus;
- Proactive in identifying problems and solutions to address them;
- Must be an exceptional team player;
- Familiarity with fluorescent microscopy or flow cytometry is desirable;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Familiarity of basic cell culture and molecular biology laboratory techniques, including recombinant DNA and protein biochemistry, strongly desired;
- 2 years’ Experience in Biomedical Research;
- U.S. Citizenship is required;
- Candidates must be able to pass a favorable adjudicated National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
