Controllers direct the preparation of financial reports that summarize and forecast the organization’s financial position, such as income statements, balance sheets, and analyses of future earnings or expenses. Controllers also are in charge of preparing special reports required by governmental agencies that regulate businesses. Often, controllers oversee the accounting, audit, and budget departments of their organization.

Our company is looking for a Controller to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages capital project expenditures with purchasing, finance, and other leaders;
  • Ensure payments to vendors are made on time;
  • Drive the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to ensure the timely cash collection;
  • Provide financial analysis tools to evaluate company ventures or special projects;
  • Prepare workpapers for annual financial audits and tax returns;
  • Create monthly job cost reports for all properties;
  • Supervise overall operations including safety, security, computer services and building maintenance;
  • Assisting in the formulation of the budget and preparing the monthly budget variance analyses;
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly billings;
  • Lead compilations, review corporate tax returns and prepare tax returns for smaller clients;
  • Manages external relationships with service providers such as Tax and Treasury providers;
  • Responsible for ensuring cross-training all accounting functions in the department;
  • CPA is desirable;
  • Oversees all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements;
  • Responsible for time and material billing, to be completed no later than 48 hours following service.

Requirements:

  • Keen analytic, organization and problem solving skills which allows for strategic data interpretation versus. simple reporting;
  • Critical thinker and problem-solving skills;
  • A drive to deliver quality work and accuracy across all your work;
  • Knowledge of federal regulation on taxes and reporting;
  • CPA/MBA preferred, but not mandatory;
  • Accuracy;
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written;
  • Experience working with FFRDCs, DOE labs, M&O contracts and/or integrated contractors;
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or in business with an accounting concentration required;
  • Uncompromising integrity and transparency in dealing with employees, our board of directors, external auditors, customers, prospects and investors;
  • Ability to analyze complex information and formulate decisions;
  • Experience with ADP/Paychex;
  • At least 8 years of experience in an accounting leadership role with strong technical accounting experience;
  • Must have 3-5 years of experience in either Big 4 Accounting or a similar field;
  • Ability to report to work regularly and promptly.
