Senior Design Manager Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Senior Design Manager to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Reviews design changes submitted to ensure project remains within budget;
- Performs other duties as assigned;
- Review project design deliverables and provide comments regarding the appropriateness of the space planning and the physical adjacencies;
- Coordinates with California Department of Education (CDE) requirements. Supports review and submittal for CDE plan approval;
- Conducts post-occupancy assessments with instructional staff to determine necessary improvements or adjustments to District Standards;
- D evelops standards and guidelines to ensure that both new and modernized facilities meet educational requirements;
- Provides Architects with clear and consistent direction with regard to goals and objectives, standards, site, schedule, and budget for each project;
- Ensures that all steps within the project are documented and that the documentation meets legal requirements;
- Meets with instructional staff, school sites, and architects to define facility attributes that will support and enhance the instructional programs.
Requirements:
- Experience acting as a researcher, both in-person and with remote participants;
- Passion for participatory (vs. only consumption) experiences on the web;
- Ability to identify and leverage areas of overlap between teams;
- Speak more than one of the 286 languages of the users we design for;
- Background in content consumption, publishing, education, or news;
- Have familiarity with Free Knowledge and/or Open Source communities;
- Consistent track record of coaching talented designers to achieve their best performance;
- A diverse portfolio across web and mobile, that reflect critical thinking and design excellence;
- Solid information design experience with a foundation in UX design heuristics;
- 5+ years managing design teams in the development of software products;
- Deep knowledge and applied experience in graphic design (layout, typography, color);
- Experience with the creation of design systems and componentization;

- A track record of leading design teams through successful product launches across iOS, Android, Web & Mobile Web;
