Our company is looking for a Produce Lead to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local statutes, regulations and company policies;
  • Models and provides excellent, professional customer service;
  • Responsible for executing weekly pricing audits, weekly pull lists, and flyer recaps and monthly ALI self-audits;
  • Takes complete ownership of entire produce department, including floral. Works closely with DSD Receiver and scan coordinator;
  • Shared accountability with Assistant Manager for achieving budgeted financial results;
  • Participates in department planning with Produce Coordinator in regards to budgeting, product mix, and scheduling;
  • Updates price changes and signage;
  • Receives produce orders, arranges credits from vendors and process invoices;
  • Performs P.A. announcements;
  • Creates an environment that is enthusiastic, Guest focused, and embedded in a selling culture;
  • Work with assistant manager for the scheduling of the department ensuring that scheduling meeting operation and Guest demands;
  • Ensures the department is run in compliance with company standards (as measured by ALI audits);
  • Gains thorough knowledge of all produce items;
  • Provides direction, supervision, and mentorship to produce staff;
  • Responsible for departmental sanitation and compliance with all safe food handling practices.

Requirements:

  • Proven ability to perform excellent, professional customer service;
  • Schedule writing experience preferred;
  • Previous retail experience desired and background in produce preferred;
  • Available to work a variety of shifts including evenings and weekends;
  • Use of basic knife skills required;
  • Must be able to meet physical demands including standing, bending, twisting, repetitive motion, and lifting 10–40lbs regularly;
  • Ability to read and understand information and direction;
  • Possess the skills and knowledge associated with a high school education and 3-4 years of progressive supermarket experience;
  • Knowledge of produce operations;
  • Friendly, outgoing personality and ability to work well with others;
  • Ability to lead and mentor to people, including training and development;
  • Effective communication, Guest service, and selling skills;
  • Ability to bend, kneel, stand, push/pull stock carts and operate a pallet jack for extended periods of time;
  • Must be passionate about fresh produce;
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements on the job.
