Furnace Operator Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Furnace Operator to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Ability to read and understand blue prints;
- Monitor equipment operation;
- Record gauge readings, test results, and shift production in log books;
- Read work orders to determine work assignments;
- Load molds into the pre-heat ovens for cast;
- Prepare furnaces for casting;
- Load metal and flux into furnaces or clay crucibles;
- High School Diploma/GED and five (5) years experience working in commercial heat treating. Heat treating license is preferred;
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand basic English;
- Transport materials and products to and from work areas;
- Drain, transfer, or remove molten metal from furnaces;
- Ability to learn, problem-solve, and make decisions per work instructions and documents;
- Ability to communicate and work as a team member.
Requirements:
- Accuracy;
- Able to troubleshoot or diagnosis situations, events or equipment;
- Experience a must, working in an industrial manufacturing plant environment;
- Demonstrate good math and reading skills;
- Basic Computer skills;
- Ability to lift 75 pounds;
- Mechanically inclined;
- Previous foundry experience preferred;
- Able to work in the heat and other weather environment;
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S;
- Willing to learn new skills;
- Able to work 12 hours/nigh shifts;
- Ability to withstand extreme heat;
- Applicant may be subject to a Motor Vehicle Report;
