Meat Cutter Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Meat Cutter to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Performs opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned; ensures accuracy of signs and pricing;
- Immediately reports safety hazards and violations;
- Performs other duties as assigned by store, regional, or national leadership;
- Monitors and assists in preventing spoilage;
- Checks product to make sure it meets WFM quality standards;
- Prepares specialty meat merchandise (i.e. sausage, oven ready products, and cured meats);
- Replenishes products through proper buying procedures;
- Monitors and acts upon open PO reports for both purchases and credits in an accurate and timely manner;
- Oversees customer special order procedure;
- Orders meat products and maintains appropriate back stock levels;
- Maintains financial profitability by meeting and exceeding purchasing and sales targets;
- Controls spoilage/shrink; achieves turn goals; participates in inventory;
- Unloading product from trucks;
- Performing routine price changes on products;
- Processing including; trimming, cutting, and wrapping all varieties of meat safely.
Requirements:
- Ability to work in a wet and cold environment ;
- Must be 18 or older;
- Ability to visually examine products for quality and freshness;
- Working understanding of Meat team processes and procedures;
- Capable of accessing information about market conditions and communicating this information to customers;
- Must be able to meet the minimum physical demands of the position;
- Any licenses or certificates required by federal and/or state;
- Ability to pass drug test;
- Minimum 18 years of age;
- Meat Cutter’s license (King County only);
- Extensive knowledge of meat products and ability to communicate living conditions of animals to customers and Team Members;
- High school education/GED or currently enrolled; basic math skills;
- able to deliver friendly, courteous, prompt customer service;
- able to interpret, understand and follow instructions and solve problems;
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment; takes initiative.
