This position serves as an Electronics Technician for the Directorate ofTechnical Support and Emergency Management (DTSEM), OSHA Technical Center, Engineer Support Division.

Selectee will be expected to report to OSHA Technical Center, Sandy, UT; this is not a virtual position.

Duties

This position is an Electronics Technician performing but not limited to the following duties:

Assists engineers in the maintenance of instrument calibration systems that provide a
working standard against which field instruments will be tested and calibrated.
Assists in the development of calibration procedures, recommends changes and
improvements to existing procedures, which are used to evaluate the instruments accurately and identify possible deviations from OSHA inspection requirements or national standards.
Determines the need and initiates requisitions for spare parts for both the safety and industrial hygiene instruments and associated calibration systems that the technician works on or with.
Maintains records of work performed and prepares special reports on instrument performance as assigned.

This series covers technical positions supervising, leading, or performing work involving applying:

Knowledge of the techniques and theories characteristic of electronics, such as a knowledge of basic electricity and electronic theory, algebra, and elementary physics.
Knowledge of electronic equipment design, development, evaluation, testing, installation, and maintenance; and
Knowledge of the capabilities, limitations, operations, design, characteristics, and functional use of a variety of types and models of electronic equipment and systems related to, but less than, a full professional knowledge of electronic engineering.

In addition to meeting the Individual Occupational Requirement (IOR), applicants must meet the following specialized experience.

Specialized Experience: Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.

At the GS-09: Applicants must have at least 52 weeks of Specialized Experience equivalent to the GS-08 or higher, to qualify for this position. For this position, examples of qualifying experience include:

Qualifying specialized experience for the GS-09 includes:

This position is inside the bargaining unit. If the duty location is within the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, the position will be included in the Local 12, AFGE bargaining unit.
