Under general supervision, performs work of moderate difficulty related to Fire/Rescue Operations, Emergency Medical Services, and Fire Prevention; performs related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school or the equivalent
Must be 18 years of age
Must possess and maintain a valid Nevada or "border state" driver's license, as defined by NRS 483
Must possess a current certificate as an Emergency Medical Technician or above at time of application
Must possess or obtain one of the following certifications at the time of the final offer of employment:
- Southern Nevada Health District EMT certification or above
- A State of Nevada EMT certification or above
- A National Registry Certification as an EMT or above
Must successfully complete cadet academy within time limits established by the Fire Department as a condition of continued employment, to include obtaining a State of Nevada Firefighter II Certificate and Southern Nevada Health District licensure as an EMT or above

GENERAL RECRUITMENT TIMELINE:

Candidates who meet minimum qualifications will receive an email instructing them to register for/schedule the Firefighter written examination through the National Testing Network (NTN). NTN scores must be completed by May 29 , 2024 .
Top-scoring candidates will move forward to the Chief's Structured Selection Interviews.
This recruitment will be used for the upcoming academy with a tentative start date in October 2024.

CPAT REQUIREMENTS:

All successful candidates invited to attend the City's Fire Academy must submit proof of a passing CPAT notice/card on or after April 1 , 2024 by the time of the final offer. Do not take the CPAT before April 1, 2024 , as anything taken before this date will be considered invalid.

The selection process will begin with an employment application package screening, with the best-qualified candidates being invited to participate further in the assessment process. VACATION

Employee credited with 48 hours of annual leave at the end of the first six (6) months of employment. After six (6) months, annual leave hours will accrue at eight (8) hours per month (total 96 hours first year of employment).

- Accrued at 264 hours per year sixth through twelfth year;
- Accrued at 336 hours per year upon completion of twelfth year and beyond
