This announcement may be used to fill various positions. You must choose which duty location and specialty you wish to be considered for. The Dentist is assigned to the North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System and will provide dental screenings, cleanings, X-rays and fillings. He/She will also provide specialty dental procedures like root canal, restorations and dentures.

Other duties and responsibilities, include but are not limited to:

* Routine exams and teeth cleaning

* Restorative procedures, including fillings and crowns

* Comprehensive surgical care, including extractions (pulling teeth) and oral cancer screening

* Routine and advanced prosthodontic care, including bridges, dentures, and dental implants

* Routine and advanced periodontal care, including root canals, gum treatments, and supporting bone care

* Oral and facial reconstruction surgery to repair damage from traumatic injury or serious illness

Work Schedule: Various work schedules available. May require rotating call coverage, weekdays, nights, weekends and/or holidays. The supervisor will determine the actual work schedule (Full time, Part time, Intermittent & the hours worked) upon selection based on the needs of the organization.

Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases

Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: All applicants must meet the following basic qualifications.

* Citizenship. Must be a citizen of the United States.

* Education. Must have a Doctor of Dental Surgery or dental medicine resulting from a course of education in dentistry. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are: (1) United States and Canadian schools of dentistry listed by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA), in the list published for the year in which the course of study was completed. (2) Schools (including foreign schools) accepted by the licensing body of a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico), or the District of Columbia as qualifying for full and unrestricted licensure provided the licensure requirements include a written examination measuring science achievement and a performance examination measuring clinical competence.

* Licensure or Registration. You must possess an active, full, and unrestricted license to practice dentistry in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia; and to maintain a current registration in your State of licensure if this is a requirement of the particular State.

* English Language Proficiency. Must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d).

* Physical Standards. Must pass a pre-employment examination. See below for additional information.

Physical Requirements: Must pass a pre-employment physical examination as required by VA Handbook 5019. This examination is administered by VA Occupational Health. This position requires light under 15 lbs., carrying objects up to 15 lbs., frequent use of hands and fingers, walking, standing, and bending. The incumbent must be physically and mentally able to efficiently perform the essential functions of this position without hazard to themselves or others.
