Summary

• Intakes, brainstorms, directs and resources Brand development work as it relates to positioning, packaging, storytelling and creative brand development.

• Collaborates with cross-functionals to gather inputs and insights from multiple sources (growing, winemaking, competition, category, consumer and market trends) to build new brands.

• Leads the development of new brand positioning, visual identity and messaging and consults on research and testing.

• Consults on renewed positioning and identity of existing brands.

• Ensures that a high quality of creativity is upheld with an impeccable attention to detail.

• Supports the overall efforts of the internal creative department by delivering innovative campaigns, creative platforms and deliverables with solid, articulated creative strategy.

• Writes creative briefs. Engages internal or external creative resources as needed. Actively directs creative work and assesses quality.

• Develops a deep empathy for target consumers and for the category (brands, trends, consumers, distributor, and retailer POVs). Studies the creative marketplace; stays current with trends and innovation.

• Serves as an equity creator and champion with external agencies and internal stakeholders.

• Provides regular consultation and review of creative work.

• Directs the execution of holistic brand principles across campaigns and all touchpoints.

• Ensures timely and informative communication takes place between the creative function and business partners.

• Judges creative concepts; clearly communicates creative direction to others.

• Delivers presentations in a clear, concise, professional manner that are engaging, visually compelling, persuasive and supported by sound rationale and strategy.

• Works with business partners to establish budgets, timelines and deliverables and ensure adherence to constraints.

• Participates in agile meetings and processes as needed.

• Participates in integrated marketing planning (IMP) and the development of the integrated marketing campaign (IMC) as required for new brands.

• Develops and maintains understanding of production, compliance and go to market capabilities.

• Spends time in-market assessing new brands in test, identifies barriers to success.

• Prioritizes tasks, manages resources and coordinates amidst multiple deadlines and projects simultaneously.

• Conducts internal reviews of creative projects with team; guides, coaches and mentors subordinate staff, where applicable.

• Collaborates with other creative directors to set expectations and standards (build a culture).

• Accountable for overall quality, including proofing, reviewing, measuring and evaluating staff performance, workload, creative output and project processes.

• Maintains satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness.

• Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory considerations. If accountable for the work of others, responsible for ensuring their understanding and compliance.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in design, advertising, or communications plus 6 years of graphic design, communications, or advertising experience to include package design experience reflecting increasing levels or responsibility; OR Bachelor’s Degree in design, advertising, or communications plus 8 years of graphic design, communications, or advertising experience to include package design experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR Bachelor’s Degree plus 8 years of creative design experience to include creative innovation reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 12 years of graphic design, adverting, or communications experience to include package design experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.

• Supervisory/management experience.

• Skilled in the use of Apple and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, etc.), Keynote, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel

• Expert in developing and defining design strategy; refining designs from creation through development and implementation.

• Strong sense of curiosity to understand and learn human behavior, cultures, and trends.

• Strong abstract and non-linear thinking.

• Strong innovative design skills and thinking.

• Strong vocabulary, narrative, storytelling, written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong creative direction, visual branding and design skills.

• Required to travel up to 25% of the time.

• Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design, Illustration or Package Design plus 9 years of graphic design including package design experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; or Masters of Fine Arts degree or other post-graduate creative degree plus 7 years of graphic design including package design experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.

• Experience developing new brands from conception to in-market test/launch.

• Alcohol Beverage or CPG/Beverage industry experience.

• Skilled in color and typography

• Expert in package design

• Experience defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions.

• Experience training and developing creatives, strategists and brand marketers in executing brand and organizational objectives.

• Familiar with commonly used brand strategy methodologies (e.g. Hero’s Journey, Jungian Archetypes, Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, Principles of Brand Architecture, etc.)

• Expert in developing and defining design strategy; refining designs from creation through development and implementation.

• Knowledge of print production.

• Knowledge of packaging regulations and their implications on design decisions.

• Knowledge of strategic brand development, branding and marketing equities.

• Skilled in organization and presentation.

• Expert with team management and building.

• Expert maintaining composure under pressure and effectively coping with change and multitasking.

• Experience thinking strategically and working outside the box on issues.

• Skilled in reading, analyzing and interpreting consumer insights, trends and marketing reports.

Compensation

Hiring Salary Range Posted: $143,500.00 - $218,300.00

Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by factors such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
