Qualifications

JOB SUMMARY

The Technology Career Navigator position reports to the Digital Equity Program Manager and is accountable for coordinating the TechSF OnRamp program, funded by the SF Office of Economic and Workforce Development (OEWD), and providing Five Keys participants and students with digital literacy training, technology career and advanced training exploration, placement into living-wage jobs, advanced training, and/or career advancement in order to become self-sufficient. They will provide one-on-one support to help participants enroll into computer skills training and job placement services, community college and training opportunities, and other post-secondary pathways that lead to career advancement, specifically within the Technology sector. This position will also be responsible for helping to develop and facilitate workshops in basic digital literacy and computing fundamentals.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordinate and/or facilitate technology workshops for Five Keys students and participants,with a focus on basic digital literacy, computing fundamentals, and technology career exploration
Plan and schedule regular TechSF OnRamp programming at the Southeast Community Center (SECC) Digital Access Program, located at 1550 Evans Street in San Francisco
Conduct one-on-one student intake and enrollment and to develop individualized career plans with all participants
Maintain systems of tracking participants regarding all outcomes, including attendance at workshops and other activities, one-on-one meetings, college and training enrollment, and placement and retention into employment
Liaise with TechSF program specialists at the Mayor's Office of Economic and Workforce Development (OEWD) for monthly and quarterly meetings to monitor program outcomes and participant progress
Develop monthly, quarterly, and annual narrative reports on TechSF On Ramp outcomes
Enter participant-level data in required client management systems-including Apricot 360 and Workforce Central
Assist participants in applying and enrolling in advanced training programs, or post-secondary classes including community college
Liaise with local workforce development organizations, employers, career training providers, and community college representatives to support career and training advancement for participants
Assist with the coordination of technology career fairs with other local employers and/or technology training providers
Conduct regular follow-up with referrals to determine participant progress
Maintain accurate activity records for the database and prepare data reports when needed
Attend all training and professional development opportunities available for Five Keys program staff
Attend regular supervisory and team meetings as determined by the Director of College and Career Pathways
Abide by Five Keys, the San Francisco Office of Economic and Workforce Development (OEWD), and any community site policies and procedures
Other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Knowledge of educational and career pathways connected to the technology sector
Strong proficiency with computers, Google Suite, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) required
Some knowledge of programming languages preferred
Strong ability to maintain and track accurate participant records and program outcomes
Advanced conflict resolution skills
Ability to maintain strong and appropriate boundaries with personal identifying information when interacting with students or community or program partners, and while at any school location or community or program partner site
Exceptional written communication skills; ability to express complex ideas with clarity and precision in written documents
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
Ability to handle multiple deadlines and tasks simultaneously
Advanced problem-solving skills; tactfully address and resolve questions/concerns
Knowledge of and/or experience with education and career pathways within the technology sector

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

Background in providing case management, job coaching, career navigation, and/or academic support to adult and young adult clients in a school or workforce development setting
Prior experience in Information Technology or STEM fields preferred
Previous teaching or facilitation experience preferred
General understanding of technology career pathways

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

This position is contingent upon:

If this position will be working in county jails or a probation location, it is also contingent upon satisfactory results of the jail clearance process
Submitting proof of clear TB results. Results dated within 60 days prior to hire date are acceptable

Some personal safety risk working in underserved communities
Must be willing and able to travel state-wide to various locations or meetings as needed
