Part-Time Instructor, Nursing Evening/Weekends

Position Summary San Juan College seeks qualified part-time faculty to teach introductory nursing courses. This is an on campus position; no online teaching is available. Adjunct faculty serve as temporary, part-time faculty and are appointed on a semester‑by‑semester basis. The primary duty is effective teaching of college‑level courses and/or labs in the qualified discipline. This position reports to the Dean and is responsible for developing and revising instructional materials; presenting material in an organized manner; evaluating student learning; maintaining student records; teaching day, evening, weekend, and online classes (if assigned); teaching at the main and/or satellite campuses (if assigned); maintaining a minimum of one office hour per week per assigned course; participating in Adjunct Professional Development activities; and demonstrating and promoting the school values of Innovation, Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence.
Responsibilities Develop and revise instructional materials.
Present material in an organized manner.
Evaluate student learning and maintain student records.
Teach day, evening, weekend, and online classes as assigned.
Teach at the main and/or satellite campuses as assigned.
Maintain a minimum of 1 office hour per week per assigned course.
Participate in Adjunct Professional Development activities.
Demonstrate and promote the school values of Innovation, Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence.
Use San Juan College’s Learning Management System (Canvas) and technology‑enhanced curriculum.
Maintain documentation of current liability insurance for professional practice in the Department of Nursing.
Adhere to remote/hybrid work policies as approved by the Dean and Human Resources.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or higher in Nursing from an accredited university program (preferred).
ADN holders currently enrolled in a BSN program may be considered.
Must hold a current R.N. license issued by the New Mexico Board of Nursing, or in a Compact State, or be eligible for licensure in New Mexico by endorsement.
Experience teaching introductory nursing courses; prior teaching experience preferred.
Experience with traditional face‑to‑face, hybrid, and online courses.
Ability to use Canvas and multiple technology platforms to communicate with students.
Access to home internet, a personal computer, and telephone.
Demonstrated skill and willingness to learn and use multiple technology platforms.
Remote / Hybrid Work San Juan College may approve remote or hybrid work for adjunct employees within New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, and Texas (states subject to change). All requests for remote work must be approved in advance by the Dean and Human Resources. Remote work options for locations outside the United States are not permitted.
Compensation Adjunct faculty are compensated on a credit hour basis at $ 778 per credit hour or at an hourly rate as applicable. Payment is made bi‑weekly. Adjunct faculty may teach no more than nine credit hours per semester unless approved by the Vice‑President of Learning and the Vice‑President of HR and Legal Activities.
Tuition Waiver Adjunct faculty teaching one or more credit classes are eligible for a tuition waiver benefit for up to four credit hours per semester and any one credit HHPC Fitness Conditioning class. The tuition waiver may be transferred to a qualified family member for the semester they are employed, subject to proof of family status verified by Human Resources.
