Salem offers Blue Ridge Mountain beauty, outdoor recreation, small-town charm, affordable living, and proximity to Roanoke Valley amenities.ResponsibilitiesTriage, assess, and treat emergency patients of all ages using critical thinking and clinical expertise in fast-paced environment.Manage multiple cases simultaneously providing general nursing care and prioritizing needs based on acuity levels across the unit.Act in composed and professional manner, especially under pressure during emergent and critical situations.Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare team to coordinate effective follow-up plans of care and necessary referrals.Document patient care effectively, succinctly, and timely according to organizational policy and regulatory standards.Coordinate functions with physicians and other hospital departments while remaining patient-focused and safety-aware at all times.Provide nursing interventions for conditions ranging from minor injuries to life-threatening emergencies across all age groups.Demonstrate competency in emergency procedures including cardiac monitoring, trauma care, and critical interventions.Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives and maintain current knowledge of emergency nursing best practices.Support team members and contribute to collaborative, family-oriented unit culture focused on excellence in emergency care.QualificationsRequired:Diploma or Associate's Degree from professional nursing programCurrent Virginia RN license in good standing or active multi-state compact license with eligibility to practice in VirginiaBLS (Basic Life Support) Health Care Provider - American Heart Association - currentMinimum 1 year of RN Emergency Room experience in acute care setting (will consider med-surg candidates for cross-training on NIGHT SHIFT ONLY)Strong assessment, critical thinking, and prioritization skillsAbility to work rotating shifts (Days, Nights, Mixed, Evenings) with rotating weekendsPreferred:Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or current enrollment in BSN program at accredited schoolACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certificationPALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certificationPrevious experience in high-acuity emergency departmentsTrauma nursing experienceCompensation & BenefitsHourly Pay: $32.33-$48.50 based on years of experience (0-9 years: $32.33 | 10-19 years: $40.41 | 20+ years: $48.50)Shift Differentials: Night $3.00/hour | Weekend Days $3.00/hour | Weekend Nights $7.00/hourSign-On Bonus: $15,000 with 2-year commitmentRelocation Assistance: Up to $1,500Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance401(k) with employer matchPaid time off and holiday payTuition reimbursement and continuing education supportProfessional development and certification assistanceEmployee wellness programs and recognition initiativesIdeal For Emergency nurses seeking to join a supportive, family-oriented team in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
