Job Description Position Title: BuyerDepartment: Supply Chain ManagementReports To: Supply Chain ManagerPosition SummaryWe are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Buyer to join our Supply Chain team. In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and scheduling materials to support production and meet customer demand. You will play a critical role in ensuring on-time delivery, managing supplier relationships, and maintaining optimal inventory levels in a fast-paced, high-mix/low-volume manufacturing environment.Key ResponsibilitiesSource and procure materials aligned with production schedules and customer requirementsManage open purchase orders to ensure accuracy and on-time deliveryCollaborate with suppliers to expedite deliveries, resolve shortages, and address delaysCommunicate material status, risks, and recovery plans to internal teams and customersDemonstrate strong knowledge of materials and supply sources to make cost-effective purchasing decisions that meet quality and delivery requirements, while supporting overall supply continuityProactively manage supplier performance by resolving material issues, expediting deliveries, and ensuring efficient processing of defective material returnsMaintain optimal inventory levels while minimizing excess and obsolescenceIdentify and qualify alternative components when neededEvaluate supplier performance and support supplier selection processesLead business reviews with key suppliersSupport updates to QMS procedures and work instructionsProcess and manage defective material returns efficientlyParticipate in Lean initiatives and continuous improvement effortsPerform other duties as assignedQualifications & Experience2–5 years of purchasing experience, preferably in electronics manufacturing or a related environmentStrong knowledge of electronic components (ICs, passives, connectors, cables, PCBs)Experience with ERP/MRP systems (Epicor preferred)Excellent negotiation, communication, and vendor management skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentStrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesProficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)Ability to collaborate effectively across departmentsWhat We're Looking ForA proactive, solutions-focused mindsetStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsAbility to build and maintain strong supplier relationshipsAdaptability and willingness to support continuous improvement*Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship*As part of our commitment to a safe and trustworthy workplace, Impact ES Vancouver conducts background checks on all final candidates.
