Job Description
The Float Registered Nurse will provide care to a diverse patient population, including patients boarded from the emergency room, telemetry, medical-surgical, and more. RNs in this role will float to various units as needed within the institution.
Responsibilities
Maintain a nurse-to-patient ratio that varies from 1:4 to 1:6, depending on unit acuity.
Possibility of taking on charge responsibilities in smaller units, which may involve managing staffing, bed flow, and general coordination.
Perform core nursing duties, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years of charge nurse experience.
Experience in a US nursing environment is required; Canadian experience is not qualifying.
Proficient in the EPIC charting system.
Skills
BiPAP/CPAP management
Blood product administration
Cardiac telemetry
Caring for ventilated patients
Central line care/management
Administration of IVs, including insulin and cardiac drips
Telemetry monitoring
Wound care and management
Patient and Facility Details
Patient Age Groups: Adults, Geriatrics
Interdisciplinary support available, including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and phlebotomy.
Daily patient population can include emergency room boarded patients, telemetry, and medical-surgical patients.
Additional Information
Flexibility is essential, as this position requires floating between various units and potentially between nearby facilities. The ideal candidate will exhibit strong teamwork and adaptability in providing high-quality patient care.
